APPLICATION OF STATIC SYNCHRONOUS COMPENSATOR (STATCOM) AS REACTIVE POWER CONTROL IN DFIG WIND FARM AND GRID INTERCONNECTION SYSTEMS

The most difficult aspect of optimizing a wind farm is creating an accurate model, especially if the connected to grid. inconsistency and unpredictability speeds exacerbates this issue. When dealing with farms, it possible that reactive power addition capabilities individual turbines are insufficient meet network requirements. This due cable losses line between PCC. study employs doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) compensator keep output voltage amplitude more constant. Using two PI controller loops, STATCOM will generate (capacitive) DFIG lower. then absorb (inductive) electricity system greater. STATCOM's ability regulate flow can increase network's stability. By power, factor increased stabilized up 0.99. In addition, system's harmonics never exceed 5% limit specified by IEEE 519-1992 standard.
